Environmental projects are high on our priorities at Rittal: however, financially from initial proposal through to the test and full implementation, the expectations which were raised by Somar have been met.
Alan Court, Financial Controller @ Rittal CSM
Rittal CSM Ltd, world leaders in the manufacture of server racks and computer cabinets, implemented a retro-fit program to replace 300 metal halide fittings with an equal number of Somar luminaires within their Plymouth facility. Rittal had previously piloted Eluma within their despatch area over a number of weeks and had been pleased with the results; both in terms of savings (68%) and operator acceptance.
Eluma has now been implemented across their entire Plymouth facility to equal success, creating an carbon footprint reduction equivalent to travelling 3.3 million miles in a medium-sized family car: that's the same as driving to the moon and back four times!
In addition to the environmental benefits, based on the test results and initial indications following the full installation, Rittal expect to save around £48,376 per year from the Eluma programme within their Plymouth facility alone.
The following video was a BBC News report on the installation of Eluma at Rittal's Plymouth facility.
